Year A - Christmas - Holy Name of Jesus

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,
who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
as something to be exploited,
but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave,
being born in human likeness.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself
and became obedient to the point of death
-- even death on a cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted him
and gave him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Dear friends,

Today we will be reflecting on the passage from Philippians 2:5-11.

In this passage, Paul encourages us to have the same attitude of humility and selflessness as Jesus, who "did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage." Instead, Jesus emptied himself and took on the form of a servant, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

This passage reminds us of the importance of humility and compassion in our lives. We should strive to put the needs of others before our own, just as Jesus did. We should not seek to use our power or status for our own benefit, but rather to serve and help others.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.

Let us remember this lesson from Jesus and strive to embody humility and compassion in all that we do.May we all work towards creating a more compassionate and loving world, for the benefit of all beings.

Peace be with you.
