Year A - Nativity - Proper I

So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph,
and the child lying in the manger.
When they saw this, they made known
what had been told them about this child;
and all who heard it were amazed
at what the shepherds told them.
But Mary treasured all these words
and pondered them in her heart.

Birth of Christ

Dear friends,

As we reflect on the passage from Luke 2:19, we are struck by the simple yet profound description of Mary, who "treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." Mary's response to the events surrounding the birth of Jesus shows us the importance of taking time to reflect on and contemplate the deeper meanings of life.

In our busy and hectic lives, it can be easy to get caught up in the rush of daily tasks and distractions. But Mary's example reminds us to take a moment to pause and truly consider the things that matter most to us. By taking time to reflect and meditate, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world, and cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us remember to make time for contemplation and introspection, and to nourish our hearts and minds with the wisdom and love that come from within.
